DROPPED

Today (Feb. 5 '23) I could have broken my legs; both shinbones bear the scars of my crash landing as I dropped out of the doorway between the kitchen and the bathroom. I had just completed the fifth chin-up on my way to number six, when before I could say WTF I was crumpled on the tile floor, the chinning bar under my legs, not pressed between the door jambs where I had squeezed it a year ago.

It hurt, but not like when I had broken my femur. But there was blood. Each leg had four evenly spaced skid marks in a vertical pattern on my shinbones.* I had been at the top of my pull when the bar came loose and I hit the floor after bumping off the low step. I think I landed on my toes, which crumpled instantly, then my shins followed by my knees.

I can walk, slowly, my right big toe is being treated with an ice-pack. My left knee is weaker than I would like it to be, but so far only the toe is getting iced. I am fortunate that Molly was here to ask the right questions and get me set up.

*Update

Today (Feb. 7) I went to my workout today and Farzin checked me out. My left leg needs a rest, my toe probably is not broken (Dr. Phillips concurs). My upper body is working well. And the pattern on my shins is from the bar which was in my hands when I dropped.
