This map shows where we walked and also gives an idea of other places the roads will take you. The house is there where the white dots start next to the road at the top of the Google Earth view. This was take a few years ago so the logged areas have grown over and new clear cuts are in place. On our return from the 1000' viewpoint we took a side trip through the woods that contain some giant old growth cedars and spruce... to be seen on another trip, since we only skirted the edge.

Our destination turned out to be the low knob on the left horizon.

This is the old road a few hundred feet out of the forest after crossing the two creek bidges.

The 2 mile marker is the distance to higway 101 at the Cape Falcon summit, a good place to start a mountain bike ride, with a walkout through the short bit of woods to Arch Cape creek bridge.

A peek through the trees to the ocean.

Zooming in...

A rock quarry at 1 1/2 marker. The road cut through the top layers of the ridge and revealed rocky secrets.

The cliff revealed at the beach near the arch may be related to this bit of rock.

X marks the start, at the house.

Down the hill behind me is a giant grove of trees that the logging company has agreed to not cut, for now. Gotta go take a closer look.

Backtracker shows we are 33 yards from where we left the forest on the way up the hill. Handy device.

I found an elk antler and an old logging cable.

And then on Monday I flew for almost an hour above the beach at Ecola.
